Hello. Out of the blue, after restarting my computer, my OS now looks like Mac, where there is a bar at the top of the screen. On the left of that bar there is a "windows" (?) button where I can access my apps. I don't even know how to describe how terrible this looks, it really feels like a Mac rip-off and I absolutely hate it. Did Zorin update itself? Did I press something? Where can I restore my beautiful previous customisation? Please, I am struggling with this and I don't even know where the Power button went!
Please open your settings from the app menu and go to Layouts
- then select your preferred layout.
It sounds like your layout switched. Under normal circumstances or with an update, the OS will not switch itself... But...
You're not the only member to have found a layout switched without their being aware of it. So there may be an abnormal circumstance that can cause it.
Hi Aravisian, thank you for your help. I managed to go back to my previous settings after playing around with the layouts. Do you have any knowledge about what could have cause this so I can avoid it next time?
Sadly, I don't. This is not a common occurrence. I know that default keyboard shortcuts can be the bane of fast fingers (or clumsy ones) and I often run into that as an issue - that I inadvertently enter a series of keystrokes that enacted some shortcuts I did not know about or want.
I am not aware of any being bound to Layouts in Zorin OS Core (I use Lite)
