I am STILL waiting to upgrade from 17 to 18 but it says coming soon for me. Is it just only me or did you guys get that same message as me? BTW does zorin 18 uses rust? I'm curious as it they're not open-source.
The Zorin team released OS 18 too early, it was never finished, has had issues, bugs, missing translations, the upgrader was not ready upon release, and OS Lite still hasn't been released. They wanted the OS released in time for Windows 10 end of support.
The upgrader was recently in BETA format, but I do not think its been fully released, or ready for use. Believe me when I say, many of us are still waiting.
Not only am I waiting on the upgrader tool, but I am also waiting for bugs to be fixed, and OS 18, brought up to modern standards of civility, not pull my hair out in pain and frustration, cause of issues.
As to your last question, I don't remember Rust being in the APP list of Zorin OS, but I can say for sure, you will find rust on your lawn mower.
No, it does not. Are you thinking of Cosmic Desktop?
Well I'm just wondering as if they use it lol. dw about it.
Oh ok, because I thought they would release it like in this month from what they said I think? not sure but somebody said it.
True but I am patient.
Good to hear. I suggest you keep coming back here even after the upgrader has been in use for a while, to check user feedback and determine effectiveness and stability. Also should mention, do back-up all your data before using upgrader or before doing a clean install of ZorinOS.
There is a Possibility to use the Upgrader if You want. But as @StarTreker already wrote: It is still in Beta. So prepare a BackUp and an USB Stick with Zorin on it for worst Case.
If prepared, open the Terminal and type sudo apt update && sudp apt upgrade to install all available Updates that might not installed. Then type gsettings set com.zorin.desktop.upgrader show-test-upgrades true and then start the Zorin OS Upgrader.
patient is what I meant to say, sorry.
That's alright! Are you trademarked, as well? ![]()
Has there been any internal communication from the Zorin Group to moderators or whatever about what's going on behind the scenes? Also, have there been any posts by either Arytom or Kyrill acknowledging the problems in full along with a genuine "mea culpa"? Lastly, has there been a steady stream of bugfixes made available via the software updater? I honestly think that 100% transparency and open communication from Arytom and Kyrill would help a lot at this point.
No worries, I missed the typo. I read "patent" as "patient" anyhow. My brain compensated automatically for that word in context. Patience is a worthy trait, if you are migrating from Windows to linux.
