Standard editions (Core, Pro, or Education) are now faster and work on older machines too.

Highly disagree with this statement.

Gnome uses more resources than xfce. Even if install core on older machine you will have hard times to use it.

I have installed Zorin Os Core on an old laptop with limited resources and it barely runs, even though I have disabled all the inherent features, such as multitasking and cube.

I have tried the 17 Core version, the ram consumption after a cold boot is around 1.5gb while in the Lite version it's 600mb-700mb. Gnome uses more resources Older device with low system specifications and with a HDD will suffer a lot due to this.
