Widgets for Zorin ...?

Hi, everyone. Hope all is well. Are there any options for widgets and whatnot for users to put on the desktop on Zorin OS (other than Conky)? (And yes, I'm back.) I'm hoping there's something that I can use with little or no effort. Thanks.

You properly would love Plasma if you like widgets. There aren't really any for Gnome other than you can find on Gnome extension site.

Got it. I can do without widgets, actually.

Just was curious if there were any options.

And thanks for replying, too, of course. Cheers.

You could install KDE as an alternative DE you could choose at login. The downside with Zorin 17.1r2 is that only version 5.24 is available. Plasma 5.27 is much better.

I'm not aware of any widgets, as I don't use anything of the sort myself, but seeing how Gnome has been aiming at removing the desktop as a useful space (it only works on Zorin OS because through an extension), I doubt that there are many available.

Are you looking for something in particular? My first stop would be conky as it's highly customizable, but I'm not too sure how well it can handle interactive elements, as it's mainly made for displaying information.
In case you're curious, the MX Linux Forums would be my go-to place to ask for help with that.

Yes, Conky is not interactive. I have an installation with MX Linux that comes with it.

After playing with it a bit, it was one of the first things I removed.
I prefer everything clean.

Thank you to everyone for replying.

Conky is a H.U.D. and is most useful for monitoring, not interacting. For me, where much monitoring is needed, Conky is utterly invaluable.

Cinnamon D.E. and Plasma both make use of Widgets, XFCE has a few as well as the ability to "make" some of your own variety by using other elements that contain plugins.

Gnome operates by relying on the Gnome Shell and due to this change in Gnome, extensions replaced desktop widgets.
