Wifi Chip Not Detected

Forgive me as I'm new and I promise I searched extensive into previous discussions here about similar topics. I get no option to connect to Wifi on my settings menu.

Trying the advice of this article, I attempted to access the BIOS/UEFI settings, but received an error. Also I noted that I have three bars of wifi signal and that it was connected beneath the discs list.

I have tried this with the latest version of core 17.1 as the image shows, but I previously had paid for pro 16.3 and it had the same issue. Initially I gave up a year ago when I tried to demo this due to this issue, but I'm hopeful someone can assist!

You can enter Bios directly, you do not need to use this option in Boot menu.

But, the key to enter Bios is not the same for all bios.

It is usually one of these: F2, F12 or Delete.

To enter:

  • Power off the machine and Power on again.
  • Press one of these keys, for example F2. You can keep pressing it repeatedly and this has to be quick, before you reach the Boot menu.

If it doesn't work with F2, try F12, then Delete.

After further Googling I've discovered Macs do not have a BIOS. Entering any of these combinations doesn't result in a menu.

"Apple doesn’t allow users to navigate UEFI and adjust settings before the macOS loads. They do so to protect the OS from unnecessary changes. That’s why most of the things you could do in BIOS mode aren’t possible on Mac."
