Since the latest system update, I have had a few WIFI problem and my system just completely crashed and rebooted. I see this as the last entry in the logs (as well as a number of times earlier today).
First thing to try is roll back to previous linux kernel. (Problem may be due to new 6.17 kernel)
From grub screen select "Additional Options for Zorin" then choose a 6.14 kernel generic and boot with that.
Thanks, @zabadabadoo!! I tried that and the error was not in my logs on boot this time. I'll try this for a few days to make sure it fixes the problem.
Is there something else I should do to try to get the issue fixed in the next kernel?
Thanks for the replies!! I am at the office today but will run that command as soon as I get home tonight. I did look around a bit and found that the actual Realtek device is not rtw8922a, but rather RTL8125 2.5GE. Maybe I need a different driver.
In any case, I will send the output from that command as soon as I get home, and thanks again for the help!
It is worth noting that this is Wifi 7. When I first had this computer built, I was on Zorin 17, which did not support Wifi 7 so I put a Wifi 6 card in it. However, once I upgraded to Zorin 18, I removed the other card and started using the built in card. Since then I have been having some problems.
I just wanted to update you on what I have done. I found that there was an r8125 firmware package in the repositories, so I installed that. What I noticed right away was a big speed increase. However, I found that it was still unstable, at least with the 6.17 kernel.
In the meantime, I have re-installed the Wifi 6 adapter, which seems to be working fine (though not as fast). I will probably try again when we move to kernel 6.18.
