In Zorin OS 18, Wine and Zorin Windows App Support packages are currently (as of Oct '25) being affected by a package conflict in which a dependency was set for a package that does not exist in the Ubuntu Repository.
Due to this, installing wine will likely lead to dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/libgtk-3-0t64_3.24.41-4ub untu1.3_i386.deb (--unpack): trying to overwrite shared '/etc/gtk-3.0/settings.ini', which is different from other instances of package libgtk-3-0t64:i386
Whille users can use a --force flag, I do not recommend doing so as this may cause system instabilities given that the libgtk-3-0t64 package is a new package intended to replace the 22.04 setup to resolve a time inconsistency in that package.
I was able to solve this problem with claude.ai; this AI has a full understanding of how Zorin OS is built and the packages it uses. If I find the conversation, I will share it so that those who have the same problem can solve it.
I also am interested as I just installed Zorin and would like to get Wine installed so I can test some Windows apps. Is there a source where we could check to see if it's been fixed?
