Yeah, as mentioned above, this is a Gnome issue as they've moved on to a new utility that for some reason is not easily available even through a terminal command. I believe that the new screenshot tool is not an separate application, but an integral part of gnome-shell.

This is antithetic to GnuLinux and FOSS - software being integrated, not modular. It does not keep it simple, it does not do one thing and do it well and it restricts user access.

The more integrated software is, the less it can be forked. GNome Devs claim that users can just fork and modify if they do not like what the GNome Devs are doing; then they pull stunts like this to prevent the users from doing just that.
It's an excellent example of "Just listen to our claims but do not test them."
