WWAN Driver Not Working

hey,

hopefully someone can help me here, i recently moved from mint to zorinOS (core), everything appears to be working and connecting however i cannot for the life of me get my WWAN card to work correctly.

after much trial and error i have now got it connected with a 70% signal but all pages return blank

the module:

Huawei ME936

Brand
Huawei

Form Factor M.2 3042

Primary Technology - LTE - cat 3

LTE Bands
B1 (FDD 2100), B2 (FDD 1900), B3 (FDD 1800), B4 (FDD 1700 / AWS), B5 (FDD 850), B7 (FDD 2600), B8 (FDD 900), B13 (FDD 700c), B17 (FDD 700bc), B20 (FDD 800DD)

(borrowed the picture from a website but it is this one i have installed)

the module works fine with windows on dual boot, just linux seemingly having the problems

Welcome to the Forum!

Did You checked if on the ''Additional Drivers'' Tab in Software & Updates a Driver is offered. Or do the Manufacturer itself offers one?

already checked the additional drivers tab and it had no new drivers to be installed.

when i installed zorin OS it actually found the correct drivers / settings however the APN offered by linux was incorrect so i updated them to the correct settings.

i also checked my disk tab to make sure it is not been added as a "disk/hard drive"

i did it, this actually fixed the issue on zorin, mint and ubuntu :slight_smile:

$ sudo nano /etc/udev/rules.d/71-huawei-me936conf.rules

ACTION=="add|change", SUBSYSTEM=="usb",
ENV{DEVTYPE}=="usb_device",
ATTR{idVendor}=="12d1", ATTR{idProduct}=="15bb",
ATTR{bNumConfigurations}=="3",
ATTR{bConfigurationValue}!="3"
ATTR{bConfigurationValue}="3"

found it on another group. hope it helps anyone else having this issue not actually sure how it works, but my mobile broadband is operational
