Xfce4 Panel will not launch

No response with right click on panel (task bar).

Should I go ahead?

Well, that was (inxi) a method to find out if you are running Core or Lite. You may use your app menu to check for a System Info app.

Ok, install attempt but package not found. Thanks! I’ll keep trying.

Ok well, what we are trying to really check is- Are you running Zorin Core or Zorin Lite?
In terminal, please enter in

xfce4-about

and relay the results (Should open a pop up window with information in it. Only need to know if XFCE 4.14.)

I re-installed 15.3 core on Lenovo to be sure. Its Core we’re dealing with. The XFCE Panel Customize your Panel plugin does not download with the latest version.

But both laptops have the same OS description i.e.

redearthman@RedEarthMan-Lenovo-IdeaPad-S145-14AST:~$ cat /etc/lsb-release
DISTRIB_ID=Zorin
DISTRIB_RELEASE=15
DISTRIB_CODENAME=bionic
DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION=“Zorin OS 15.3”

However, on the MacBook the source for this plug in is lp_ppa_zorinos_stable-bionic-main.
I did write down the source on the version I was able to source and install on the l
Lenovo but lost that note. However the source was different from this.

I used Hardinfo to check on the Zorin version but it just reports 15.3, not whether its Lite or Core.

So I have tracked it down: it is XFCE 4.14. When I installed the XFCE tarball, and launched the Panel plugin, the error message attached pops up. I don’t have the experience to sort this one out myself.

Also, when I tried to track down the problem on Synaptic, it reports

Depends: xfce4-panel (<4.13) but 4.14.3-1~18.04 is to be installed.

That’s also something that is beyond my experience to fix.

Thanks for all your efforts!
