Zen browser reset itself

Good morning!

I have been using Zen browser since the Mozilla 'thing' and been enjoying its features. This morning I opened it up (I usually switch my laptop off overnight), and it asked me to create a new profile - my existing profile, customisations, browsing history, tabs etc have all gone. I have a backup of my important bookmarks etc so thats not a big issue in itself, but its a weird thing to happen.

Further, it is showing as version 1.7b, when a few days ago I was at version 1.11-something.

Looking in software, it shows that I am installed with version 1.11.1b. If I click to open it from that installed version, it opens this regressed 1.7b version.

Reminder: this is a browser in beta, also, a flatpack (which I'd rather it wasn't).
Has anybody else experienced this issue?

You should raise this issue with the Zen developers directly. If nothing else, to report that it is happening, which seems like there have been cases before:

Thanks, I now have. I'll report any developments/solutions in case anybody else experiences this, but it puts me right off using it as my main browser. It could also be a security hazard by reverting to an older Firefox base.

That's the thing with beta versions. They are prone to bugs, errors, etc. By reporting them you're helping out a lot :+1:

I started using zen-browser about a week ago.

I also use the flatpak version, but at this point I've bumped into a couple of issues so its tempting to switch to appimage to see if that resolves my issues.

I'm on version 1.11.2b.

The LibreWolf browser may be worth a look as a secondary/alternative.

Software just downloaded and updated to version 1.11.2b, however my previous profile is still missing. Could be to do with where these are stored because its a FlatPack, I suppose.

Yes, I installed it at the same time as Zen, but hadn't tried it yet.

Zen has some features I really like: Workspaces and 'Essential' tabs. I've also grown to appreciate vertical tabs, although I see that Firefox and Librewolf now offer this.

The Waterfox browser is another option.
