Zorin 1.0 A trip down memory lane - 11 min video

A bit of nostalgia an 11 minute video of a download and running Zorin 1.0. My first Zorin experience was Zorin 15 Pro, I jumped Z16 and reinstalled Z17.
This video is in Brazilian Portuguese with Auto dub in English ... enjoy :slightly_smiling_face:

I watched the first half. Was thinking if you had Ventoy, plus another USB, you could put an App Image of zen browser on and see if that would work, bearing in mind was there ever a 64_bit version of Zorin 1.0? I joined at Zorin 4.0.

The video was interesting, I didn't care much for the audio.

I feel the need to put out an PSA warning to Zorin users. As that is version 1.0 of Zorin OS, not only will you have internet browsing issues like that guy did, but your PC will be at heavy risk, due to the over a decade outdated OS, you will be using at your own risk, and Zorin team are not responsible, if you get virus's, malware, or hacked.

I watched about 30 seconds of that video until i couldn't handle that AI text-to-speech anymore.

It is interesting to see earlier versions of a product, especially one we all love and adore.

That is insane, i joined at zorin 16 and it feels like ive been here for ages - you must've been here for decades then. According to wikipedia, zorin 4.0 was released in 2010!

I was hugely disappointed when Freespire came to an abrupt end in 2008 as at that time it was the best community OS that was good for Windows migrators, based on the parent OS Linspire until Michael Robertson sold it off to Xandros without recourse to the Board of Linspire. So when I discovered Zorin 4.0 I was over the moon. I began regularly offering support on the then forum, one based on php.BB. After 6 weeks the Brothers Zorin gave me the honour of becoming a moderator. Many personal hours were put in, late into the night. A lot of my attention sadly was having to deal with multitude attempts at forum spammers wanting to join which meant cross-referencing IP addresses and user names on stopforumspam dot com.

Here's a video that never really got finished, because I was attempting to show a triple-boot scenario and youngest had returned and needed access to their computer!:

I did something silly, might have been Zorin 15 I was on, can't remember and after a family argument I accidentally wiped my Zorin install by putting a different distro on the wrong drive. The upside was it lead me to Devuan (3.0) because it doesn't have the bloatware of systemd. Now my preferred OS is PCLOS Debian but I need to back it up on newly acquired 4 Tb WD Elements and do a fresh install as I have a partition issue showing up in GParted .

I never suggested anyone try installing Zorin 1.0. I titled the video "Zorin 1.0 A Trip down memory lane" ... not a hint of telling anyone to install it.
BTW one could spin it up in a VM without risking your PC

It was just a, just in case, covering all bases PSA.

You see, when I was a kid, I did a lot of stupid stuff with computers, the kind where I screwed things up all the time, where it was common for me to have to format the HD, and reinstall the OS.

We also live in modern times, where much less people know computers, then decades ago. It boggles my mind how modern generation kids know everything about their cell phones, yet practically nothing about computers.

Just covering the bases my friend, a PSA to hopefully prevent possible catastrophe.

I would agree with nearly everything you wrote except ... modern kids know how to use their phones however with little to no knowledge how they work or what insidious invasive spy machines they actually are.
BTW ( here's my Arch-like moment  ) I use Graphene  ... further, what a toxic childish community Graphene have  :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:
Zorin community is a breath of fresh air compared to that forum
