i ran the automatic sleep test on one of the computers with z15 installed that i'm able to boot into the usb clone os and i got the same "2". so that's not effecting the z15, so i'm going to put a pin in that path and research some other things.

cloned os into fully wiped computer. update-grub. boot repair from z usb installer. then cloned that to a wiped usb drive. so that should have had the cleanest of grubs. when i boot, i don't get a bunch of stuff on my grub menu anymore - just the 3 choices. z, recovery, uefi.
when i go into uefi, in my boot override it even says ubuntu (usb) which is what it does in z15, but when i boot that, it just boots into the computer and not the usb cloned os which i'm trying to do. tried a few times and it just keeps going into my computer not usb os.
