Zorin 17.2 // Bluetooth pairs OK but continues to play through speakers

Hi,

Strange problem here.
I have 2 bluetooth devices that have the same issue. Fosi audio BT reveiver (with speakers plugged in) and a pair of Sony BT headphones..

I can pair them no problem. They are available to select in Sound > Output device.

Example, when I set Fosi Audio as the output device, then start playing sound, it will continue to to play the sound through the laptop speaker and ignore the output device I selected.

When I press volume up or down, I can hear the "ding" sound when you change volume coming through my Fosi audio > speakers but the main sound (e.g. youtube playing) continues to play on the laptop speakers.

Same problem if I use my heaphones as the output device.
I am also using a Targus dock but I have tested this with the dock completely removed and the issue persists.

Is is also dual boot and I have no such issues on Windows 11.
Any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this?

Thank you!

See if this might help:

Because You have a Dual-Boot System:

  • Are Secure Boot and Fast Bott in BIOS turned off?
  • Is Fast Start-Up in Windows turned off?

Did You tried Pulse Audio Volume Control? It is a Tool to set up Audio Input and Output. You can install it with the Terminal Command sudo apt install pavucontrol

Thanks for the tips guys, I checked Secure/Fast boot is disabled, as is fastboot on Windows 11 (well not it is :). So one more thing to check was Pulse Audio.. BINGO!

After connecting my Fosi audio speakers to BT, then selected Fosi Audio from the standard sound configuration menu, I launched Pulse Audio and clicked in the output tab (pic attached above), then the sound started playing.

It's important to set Fosi audit on the standard output config first, so it then remembers it from there. Then you only have to launch Pulse Audio when you need to.

All sorted now thank you!!!!
