This isn't so much a question as it is a report. Basically I have been running Zorin 17.3 as my daily driver for some time. I basically just use it to browse the internet and play Steam games, nothing fancy, and I've used Zorin for so long that I felt it was probably time to support it (which I want to make clear I absolutely do not regret doing) and so I decided I'd upgrade to 18 pro this time. I got the license sorted and then used the normal Zorin Upgrade tool. It took about 25 minutes or so to do the upgrade, which is whatever. My PC is very high end, but I'm not too particular about the time it took, but the thing that did matter is that it eventually errored at the end saying that the upgrade failed due to "System inconsistency". I'm not sure what exactly that even implies really, but it recommended to just install Zorin 18 from scratch, which while weird, whatever, I had nothing on it but a browser and Steam games as I had mentioned. I said "okay fine" and rebooted the computer to start this process and now it just enters kernel panic the moment I start. Thankfully this is a dual boot system and I was able to just boot into W11 and download an ISO of Zorin 18 to install from there, but if I had not been on a dual boot system, this could have been quite problematic.

I must agree with this. Having a vague report gives the end user nothing to work with.
The expectation is that the Upgrader Tool will Upgrade the system safely - that is its purpose. That is why it was asked for. That is why it was introduced.
So, a user expects any failure to mean merely that it does not upgrade. Not that they must perform a wipe and reload and hope their backups were up to date.
And if it does fail: a clear error to troubleshoot matters much more than a vague dismnissal.
