Zorin 17 Pro Fresh Install audio not working

I installed the core 16 version to test it. At the time the sound was working very well. Then I installed version 17 Pro and I no longer have sound. I installed on Beelink Ser5. Do you have any idea?

What sound card does it have?

@zabadabadoo it's a mini pc and no information on product page. It will be an onboard chipset: Mini PC Beelink MINI S Intel N5095A CPU, Win 11 pro mini desktop computer ,Lightweight and compact office Micro PC, Dual HDMI 4K UHD/Gigabit Ethernet/Dual WiFi/BT/VESA for Home/Office
or in this review Beelink SER5 Max Review | Specifications | Price | Features
@GeorgesZor can you please open a terminal and enter:

sudo lshw -C sound

and post back the results?

Hi@zabadabadoo and swarendor437 !

There appear to be 2 USB audio devices detected - suspect one will be connected to the webcam. The High Definitioin Audio will pertain to the HDMI port. Can you advise what the USB audio is that you attached - is this an external USB Audio card? Is that what you are attempting to use? It would help if you could remove the webcam and any other USB periperals that don't have any audio and post back the results again.

Hi Swarfendor437,

Again thank you for given time toi help

So i did add an external USB audio as a work around.

Here is fresh result having removed USB audio Mic and Card. The only usb left is my Keybord and mouse.

Also just so to give more infos, i want to use the built in audio of my minipc.

Despite the fact that the audio device is listed in the configuration parameters, when I select it I cannot do an audio test and the selection is not kept. the interface for doing a test does not display speakers left test right test ?

What happens when in Zorin>Settings>Sound you select that option for Sound Output

Have a look at alsamixer settings with that option selected.
i.e. in terminal type alsamixer

Hi zabadabadoo,

It does not keep selection and as i mention, let say i selected it and try to test UI does not show speakers to test on. and after closing it return to other output.

Im not experimented alsamixer user, i choosen the HD-AUdio Generic
here is a visual: sorry my system in french.

You can see column of arrows at right side of your alsamixer screen. That indicates there are more channels to the right. You can use your arrow keys to naviagte there to check those channel settings.

I would select any output channel showing Muted [MM] and unmute it by typing "M" key.

I see Auto-Mute is set Disabled, so that is OK.

If you have "Loopback-Mode" channel, try changing that status and see if any effect.

You can save alsamixer settings using:

sudo alsactl store

I should say, troubleshooting sound issues can be difficult, frustrating and sometimes illogical.

Hi Zabadabadoo,

No luck... change setting, rebooted just in case ans still no working.

I"ll use my USB external until a working solution.

Thank you for trying.

Since my last reply, I have done websearches using "Renoir Radeon High Definition Audio Controller Ubuntu 22.04", as Z17 is based on Ubuntu 22.04.
Every thread I read concerning that combination of Audio Controllers is unresolved, so it is not just your problem.
If you are OK using your external USB soundcard, then that may be best option for now.

Other than that, I don't know if changing to a different linux kernel would help.

Hi Zabadabadoo,

One thing that i find funny, is that in version 16 core it was working.

Anyway, im ok using audio device. Thank you for everthing.

I guess you could try an older (Z16.3) kernel.
