Processed "sudo apt update" to check for a possible reason for
software updates not working. Received the error message.
Do You have Synaptic open, too? Or does in Gnome Software an Update run? Both can block the Terminal Usage this Way. So, close them both. In Case of Gnome Software, You could disable Automatic Updates. Then, it would only search for Updates and the Break would only be short.
It doesn't look like the same problem, what is exactly your ?
Can you please post a screenshot of that file
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/espressif.list
?
Perhaps a # is missing at the beginning of line 1 there.

Take a look at that file in your file manager and post it here
/etc/apt/sources.list.d/espressif.list
like how?
You go to /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ and there You look for the File. Make a Right-Click on it and choose ''Open with'' and there choose the Text Editor to show the Content. And that post here.
Run in terminal
cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/espressif.list
as alternative to opening the file in file manager.
