Some default shortcuts in the Zorin Tiling Shell of Zorin 18.1 don't work as expected:
Super+⬆️
Super+⬇️
Is this a bare metal install or a VM? I can't get presentation mode showing in Power Settings when running as a VM.
I noticed this in a live session with enabled keyboard shortcuts in the Zorin tiling shell extension. The commands for the actions (tile window to the top or bottom) seem to be wrong.
I tried to remove the shortcuts and to set them again, also tried to set other keys as shortcuts and to create a layout with 2 tiles at the top and bottom, but it didn't help.
I think that is your issue, live session - I suspect a bare metal install would not have these issues.
I think the commands are set wrong. They maximize the window (super+arrow up) or unmaximize it (super+arrow down), but they don't do what the description says (move the window to the tile at the top or bottom).
When I replace the Zorin Tiling Shell extension with the Tiling Assistant gnome extension, there the shortcuts for tiling the window to the top or bottom of the screen work (when I set shortcuts for super+arrows to tile at the edge and remove the preinstalled ones). I think it is not a problem of the live session in this case.
Edit:
It seems to me that the two extensions, Zorin Tiling Shell and Tiling Shell, don't offer the option to flexibly tile the screen by shortcut horizontally or vertically (move a window to the left, right, top, bottom tile), as is possible in XFCE or with the GNOME extension Tiling Assistant - or am I mistaken?
I’ve noticed that when I create a layout where the screen is split horizontally into two halves and then select that layout, Super+Up/Down works fine (but Super+Left/Right no longer does).
You can only move the windows by keyboard shortcuts within the tiles of the selected layout.
It is clearer now for me what I have to do. Problem solved.
