Hello, i'm having an issue that my Zorin logs me out if the screen turns off, it automatically logs me out and then i have to enter my password as if my computer restarted, so i have to open all the apps i had open once again, anyone know why this may be happening? from now i've disabled the automatic turn off, this doesn't always happens, but is frequent enough that is annoying.
I've tried disabling the ask for password when the screen turns off, but it continued happening when it is just the screen that turns off, i'm referring to the automatic turn off of the screen when the PC is inactive.
Sorry, in Zorin 18 is no separate setting for lock screen after suspend.
Your description sounds as this bug:
Lock screen, screensaver or suspend should not logout you and close all apps. It sounds as if the gnome shell crashes when waking up.
You could test if it is better when you switch to XOrg (or the other way round to Wayland if you are already on XOrg). Logout and at login click on your username then a cog wheal appears at the bottom right corner. There you can switch to XOrg or Wayland.
If nothing helps you could try to disable the automatic blank screen and to go manually into suspend or manually lock the screen.
Thank you for finding the bug! It gave me an idea of what might be happening, I've tested using the workarounds found in the comments and indeed the issue seems to be when waking up, but specially when the lock screen is involved, manually locking the screen causes me to logout as well, it seems that Gnome is indeed crashing which is what's causing the log out issue, in Wayland it just logs me out, in XOrg it shows a message that something went wrong and i need to log out.
Locking the screen with Super + L makes it less frequent but still happens, manually suspending causes the issue if i have the option to go to lockscreen when suspended, if i disable it it doesn't crash.
Anyway, as a workaround I've disabled the lock screen when the screen turns off and hasn't crashed since then, hopefully it doesn't happen again, hoping it gets solved with an update in the future, thank you so much!
