Zorin 18 - iPhone Passkey QR Code Failure

Hi! Zorin 17 used to work just fine when using a passkey QR code with an iPhone to authenticate in a Chromium-based web browser.

With the Zorin 18 upgrade, the iPhone never connects to the laptop to authenticate the passkey anymore.

This is a problem with any OS based on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS or newer. I was hoping the crack team here could help troubleshoot!

Hi, if it is a known problem with Ubuntu 24.04 then I guess there is no solution as that is what Zorin 18 is based on. If anyone could solve it I suspect it would have to be Team Zorin. But wait to be surprised!

They cannot, either.
Apple, Chromium Maintainers or SystemD maintainers, aside from Canonical, would need to implement this.

I read that it helped to turn off the iphone's bluetooth before pointing the iphone's camera at the QR code.

When you are prompted to turn bluetooth on to send the passkey, then confirm.

This would be interesting, if this works.

Confirmed does not work with iPhone 17 Pro, iOS 26.2. Great suggestion!

A good workaround has been using Proton Pass and configuring passkeys there instead.

Did you test the workaround with Wayland and Xorg? Perhaps it only works with Xorg.

Good suggestion, no. Switching to Xorg did not help for me.

I would still use Wayland even if Xorg did work since Xorg causes frame stutters and screen tearing on my external monitor. Wayland is near perfectly running for me.
