Zorin 18 new update lagging

Today I got a notification to update some system features. After I rebooted, I noticed lag when using most of the apps; in the system monitor, everything sits below 20%. The lag is noticeable since I can't write anything in Chrome without lag. Any ideas what could cause it? I am using RTX 3080, 64gb RAM, and AMD Ryzen™ 7 3800X × 16

Welcome to the Forum!

Here would be the Questions what Updates were this exactly? Were they in Gnome Software or in the Software Updater?

You could try it with disabling Hardware Acceleration in Chrome.

Because you hhave a Nvidia Card: Does Your System run in Wayland or X11? You can check that with the Command echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE

When it runs in Wayland, I would suggest to try it with switching to X11/Xorg and see if it behaves better. to do that, go to the Login Screen. Click on Your Profile so that the Password Field appears. When it is appeared, You should see a Gear Icon in the bottom right Corner. Click on it and choose the Option ''Zorin Desktop on Xorg'' and then log in.

They were software updates. I tried to check now for updates and got this:

Where can I check where these updates? I disabled the hardware accel, and it's still the same thing. I remember something about Zorin and Gnome. I run in X11, is that good? I just changed to Linux a month ago, so I am not the best with it.

That is fine.

Maybe try it later again. Could be some Interruption. Or alternatively type in the Terminal sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade to update over the Terminal.
