Zorin 18 suspends but does not open after

Hello,

I hope you are doing well. I just upgraded from Zorin 17.3 to Zorin 18 using the Zorin Upgrader. I have come across a new issue, where after a period of inactivity my laptop's screen goes black and it does not open again. I also face the same issue when I suspend it. The only way to get it to open is through the power button.

I have disabled the automatic suspend option and I don't know what else to do.

To clarify, so it will wake up from suspend if you press-release the power button? Just not from hitting Esc, moving the mouse, etc... ?

Welcome to the Forum!

Could You show how are Settings>Energy and Settings>Privacy>Lock Screen set up?

Yes. I have to shut it down and restart it to get it to open.

Is this what you mean?

Do you use Lenovo? Or another brand?

Yes, this is one of them. You have there on the first Option 5min. active. You could set it to never. The other Screen is Settings>Power what I asked for.

I use Asus.

Here it is:

Okay, there is on Screen Blank 5min., too. So, set it to never.

ok, done. But now wouldnt that mean that it will never go to sleep, as in suspend at all?

Is setting it manual to suspend/sleep no Option?

I just checked and it is. I will try it and see if it will work in this case.

Ive used the manual suspend/sleep option and I still have the same issue. I will come back and the screen is black and will not open or respond to any mouse movement or keyboard typing. I can see from the power button that the laptop is still on. I am then forced to shut it down and restart it.

Maybe this can help:
