I have Zorin OS 18 Pro installed on my computer, which features Intel® Arc™ Graphics and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 4070 Laptop GPU. I use a triple-monitor setup (two extra monitors) and the latest Nvidia-Driver installed (580.126.09). I am currently using Wayland painel system, and I am thinking in upgrading to GNOME 49. However, I am concerned about whether Zorin Appearance and its themes are supported in this version, given that the OS natively uses GNOME 46.
It is not possible to just "upgrade" to Gnome 49 on Zorin OS 18.
Gnome is integrated and dependent on many system packages like libc6.
You would run into the nightmare gears of package dependency that will break the system, much less your extensions and Zorin Applications.
Thanks for the reply. I imagined there would be problems updating GNOME, as it handles a lot of the OS. I don't have much experience with Linux in terms of compiling/modifying it, I'm just a regular user and I'm exploring what can be customized in the system. I found the Zorin base fantastic. I used Ubuntu in the past, but its interface really bothered me, besides not being intuitive. Thank you very much for the OS.
Well, I did not make it.
But the ZorinGroup will be happy to read your approval.
