Welcome to the forum!

An SSD swap will net you the biggest improvement by a large margin. You should consider an upgrade to ram if you're running out of it while running programs you use on the daily.

Yeah then an SSD is exactly what you're looking for. And believe me, the first time my buddy and I got an SSD for a computer, it was like going in a space ship it was so fast. I guess everyone has phones now that are super fast, so I guess it may not be that surprising anymore. But man was it a blast back then.

Welcome to Zorin OS!

The performance bottleneck is almost always on the drives since they are orders of magnitude slower than RAM. Even modern SSDs are still significantly slower.

Having more RAM will allow you to run more programs at once, and keep more data in cache to avoid swapping out to disk which again brings back concerns with performance. So, while you may perceive some gains by increasing RAM, I would go for the SSD first as well. It'll be much faster than a traditional hard drive and you'll notice it all around.

Definitely the ssd, i remember years ago swapping a hdd drive for a ssd. The speeds where insane, like i bought a new computer.
