Zorin crashes when waking from suspend

I am a recent convert from Windows, very pleased so far.
I have found one issue, which I may be a bug, although there is a work around.
I found that if I suspended Zorin, it crashed when waking. Machine is a Dell inspiron laptop. Forced stop and full reboot was OK.

When I thought about it I remembered that previously I had used an HDMI cable to connect to a TV, which gave me a clue. So. this is what happens:

If you connect an HDMI cable, then change the screen settings to use the TV as and additional screen, and then suspend. When you switch on again it crashes.

But if before disconnecting the HDMI cable the HDMI cable you change the screen settings back to just using the laptop screen, and then suspend, all is OK.

So its a problem that can be lived with by following the above procedure, but I am sure that this should not happen.
Neverthless it is a good system and in many ways I prefer it to windows!

Welcome to the Forum!

So, You have a Laptop. You could try this:

Unfortunately the problem returned. Both suspend, and just closing the lid, again caused the system to crash.

So I took drastic action and re-installed Zorin. All is OK again now.
I strongly suspect the problem was something to do with my attempt to connect a TV through an HDMI cable, I will not do that again!

Suspend mode causes problems on some devices in Linux. If the problem occurs again, you could try to disable the automatic suspend mode and only switch to suspend mode via the button in the start menu and see if that helps.
