I just installed Zorin 17.3 on a Macbook Air with T2 chip. After installing the OS by following the Zorin recommendations, I ran all of the applicable updates (including ones to enable wifi and my speakers). Right now, Zorin is not recognizing my fingerprint sensor, even though it shows up in the doc/usb list.
Here is a snapshot of my computer info:
I went through the prescribed methods of enabling the fingerprint sensor in settings (Settings >user > unlock > fingerprint login) but fingerprint is not an option.
So next, in terminal i ran sudo pam-auth-update and enabled fingerprint in the settings (removing the "x"), then rebooted the computer. Nothing changed, so I tried adding the "x" and rebooting. Still no fingerprint option available.
In the list of available USB/docs, the fingerprint sensor is recognized, but it's listed as iBridge. I'm not smart enough to know if that's the issue, or if there is something else going on.
Thank you in advance for helping me work through this issue.
Jim
Because You are on Wayland, I would suggest to switch to Xorg to check if that helps.
To do that, go to the Login Screen (not the Lock Screen). Simply reboot for that. On the Login Screen click on Your Profile so that the Password Field appears. It has to be appeared. When it is appeared, You should see in the bottom right Corner a Gear Icon. Click on it and choose the Option ''Zorin Desktop on Xorg'' and then log in and try if it works.
Another Point: Did You take a Look in the ''Additional Drivers'' Tab in Software & Updates if there is maybe a Driver for Your Fingerprint Sensor offered?
Fingerprint readers are usually wired to USB chips, so following @Ponce-De-Leon 's advice of changing to xorg at login screen, once at the desktop, please open a terminal window (just enter 'terminal' in the menu search bar and press the enter key). Now at the terminal prompt enter:
lsusb
and post back the results please.
Here is the output after "lsusb" in terminal:

The fingerprint sensor is part of iBridge.
I made the swap to Xorg with no change. I still don't have the fingerprint option.
There are no additional drivers listed in updates. I've tried updating them manually without any success.
