Hi,
I am installing Zorin OS 17.3 for the first time.
I have a laptop running MX Linux (current version) and Zorin should offer me an installation side-by-side so that I can then use dual boot to select either Zorin or MX.
Unfortunately the Zorin installer does not see the existing MX and wants to overwrite it and use the whole disk. Not what I want.
I should mention that the whole disk is encrypted by LUKS.
In the installer, choose "Something Else"
This will open Gparted, much like in your screenshot.
You can select the Partition 5 (Reserve) by clicking on it with left click and then click the (-) icon button. It will denote this as Free Space.
Now, select that free space and click the (+).
A pop up window should appear asking how to format it.
Set it as you wish, Logical / primary partition, at the beginning of the space and be sure to set root /
Once format has been set up, clicking Next button on the lower right should prompt that it will confirm writing Zorin OS to Partition 5 that you just setup the format on.
What really gets you with this action is not what is on the screen, but the fear factor of getting it wrong.
Hi!
I followed @Aravisian's advice and I think I successfully installed Zorin into partition 5.
However, when restarting the laptop I am not offered a dual boot option but I get the normal boot screen from MX Linux.
So apparently there is a problem with the grub configuration. But how do I fix it?

After running this command I got the option to start Zorin OS. Thanks a lot!
