Could you please add a light theme for the login screen to the update-alternatives at selection gdm-theme.gresource (or, if you have time, in the regular settings or dconf) that allows for the use of light-colored background images? A theme which has a dark font on light and/or transparency background elements? Another possibility would be a dark Zorin theme with white text, in which, however, the background of the parts with text (e.g., topbar, shield) is not transparent but a little dark toned.
Right now, the only way to achieve readable text on a light background image in the box of the middle of the login-screen is to switch to the original gnome shell gdm theme, which, however, lacks the beautiful elegance of the Zorin theme and has a very dark background of the box.
Otherwise, unfortunately, the white text on light background images (as e.g. the dunes or flowers) is nearly unreadable.
Since customizing the login screen is beyond my current capabilities (it requires extracting and recompiling the gresource file, as well as knowing how to modify the .css file accordingly), I would be very grateful if you, as the developers, could add this feature.
You have such a keen sense of aesthetics that I’m sure you know the best way to achieve this.
