Hi,
I have a 2013 iMac with Zorin, and I absolutely love it.
However, I'm experiencing freezes every 3 or 4 days, where the display freezes and I can't control the machine, except for the mouse moving with no other actions possible.
All I can do is shutdown the machine via power button and start it again.
I couldn't find anything in the syslog that could help pinpoint the issue. I'm not sure if it's a Kernel, GC, or GNOME problem.
Can you assist with this annoying issue?
It's really ruining everything.
Do you have any other OS installed and do it appear there as well? If so it's faulty hardware.
Are the Freezes only when You use a specific Program or in general?
How are Your Resolution and Refresh Rate set up? Is Fractional Scaling on? You can find both in the Display Settings.
I have dual boot with macOS Sequoia.
MacOs is working fine and very stable.
Okay, then that's ruled out.
What about @Ponce-De-Leon questions?
It occurs randomly, independently of the program being used.
The display settings are the default; I haven't made any changes to them.
Okay ... what Graphics do You use? On the Picture in Your first Comment stands only ''NVE7''. Do You use the Intel integrated Graphics, a Intel Graphics Card, Nvidia or AMD?
Good Question,
I suppose it's the NVIDIA.
Is there a way to force in an iMac to use the intel iGPU?
Can you give us the output of:
sudo apt install inxi
inxi -GA
to confirm which video card you have, just on the safe side.
Yes, there would be the Command sudo prime-select intel
but before that You should look at @Storm's Comment to see what Graphics You really have installed. When You would have a Nvidia Card, we could take a Look at the Driver and what Version You use.
