Zorin OS 17 appearence

Hello,

I have installed Zorin OS core with Windows 10 appearance. After an update the layout suddenly change to a Gnome/POP_OS appearance and cannot change it back to Windows 10 appearance. Please help me with this issue.

I assume by "cannot change it back" you have visited Zorin Appearance settings, is what you call "Windows 10 appearance" showing there, but you cannot change to it? (asking as I was not aware of a Win10 appearance in Core)

You could try a Reinstall. To do that, open the Terminal and type:

sudo apt reinstall zorin-appearance zorin-appearance-layouts-shell-core zorin-appearance-layouts-support

I have reinstall Zorin on my laptop. Have the basic appearance back. I still don't know what happend.

I think I know what went wrong. It is due to Citrix's ICAclient. When I have installed this and restart the laptop, the appearance is not loaded. After I uninstall the ICAclient, it loads again as normal.

The only way you can get a Win10 style appearance is by installing Plasma (KDE) 5.27 and installing Tiled Menu by zren.

I actually mean the zorin os core appearence. When I install ICAclient the appearance fail to load. When I delete the client the appearence will load again.

See if anything in here helps:

No it isn't. Stil issues with the appearence when I have installed ICAclient. Other distros don't have this problem. Only Zorin.

I took a look at pkgs.org and Ubuntu isnct one that is listed but Arch Linux is. (Zorin 17 is a fork of Ubuntu 22.04.) Having done some more research did you install as recommended here, including resolving bugs:

You assume that there is a problem with the ICAclient. I'm saying that Zorin has a problem with the ICAclient. The moment I install the ICAclient and reboot the system, the entire appearance of Zorin changes. Whether I use the ICAclient at a remote workplace or not. The problem already occurs if you have installed the ICAclient. After I deleted the ICAclient, Zorin looks the way I want it to.

I have also tested the ICAclient with POP_OS, Linux Mint, Ubuntu and Lubuntu and all of them do not have this problem.

Well I suspect it could be any number of things. As stated earlier I can't find specific package for Ubuntu or Zorin but Arch has one in its AUR channel. My other suspicions is that because the way Team Zorin work their magic on appearance could be the reason why it does go wrong with the client. Remember they are trying to make it as easy as possible for people transitioning from Windows. However, Zorin does have a long-term aim of being accepted in the workplace, and many workplaces use thin client technology to reduce software seat costs. I suggest that you post your issues in the Feedback section as the Devs look at that.

Thank you and I will post this issue in the feedback session. For my laptop i'm now using Linux Mint. My desktop computer still runs Zorin to play games. Apart from this issue and an issue with the Facebook page, it works fantastic. It even starts The Elder Scrolls Oblivion (20 year old Windows game) without any problems or tweaks.
