with rufus created usb drive for Zorin-OS-18.1-Pro-64-bit, it only boots to the bash prompt always!!
Hi and welcome.
First, can I go through a few steps with you.
-
Did you check the SHA256 checksum against the downloaded .iso? If it doesn't match it will be corrupted.
-
Is this a dual-boot machine with Windows 11?
-
Is the BIOS up-to-date?
-
In the BIOS, Windows has the hard drive settings set to 'RAID'. For GNU/Linux to run, this needs to be changed to 'AHCI' or it won't boot.
-
Did you set Rufus to use EFI and GPT partitioning?
-
If dual-booting:
a. Did you disable 'Secure Boot' and 'Fast Boot' in the BIOS?, and
b. Within Windows under hidden Advanced Power Management did you disable the setting that puts the hard drive to sleep? This is what Windows does to make boot times faster and prevents other systems from booting.
Here, I would ask first the Question: Is the BIOS in UEFI or Legacy Mode @marklinoz?
