SO i just upgraded my Dell Lattitude 5480 to Zorin os 18, coming from Zorin OS 17.3
its running kinda, bad. this seems like a optimization issue, i hope the devs see this and do something about it
can you tell use more on your specs you have like processor amount of ram is it ssd or hdd and so on?
Would you be able to switch from Wayland to Xorg? That's sometimes the main culprit. When you're typing in your password, there should be a cog in the bottom right of the screen when logging in, and you can select Zorin on X.

What Kernel runs at the Moment? You can check that with uname -r in the Terminal.
Your Dell is a 2017 device, so hardly surprising that it is a tortoise rather than a hare. My 2007 Dell XPS-M1210 (yes, 19 years old) is running Zorin 18 Core and is also slow, but I allow for its creaking bones and don't expect miracles despite the "Your computer will run like new" hype...

Wondering if he may do better with the OS 17.3 lite version i see he came from 17.3 i assume core not sure the 18 lite has come out....yet
18 Lite is not out yet, and suspect the @mInimauli was on 17.3 Core.
It would be useful to see what the actual Specs were.
Would be interested to know if Q4OS 5.8 Plasma with Look Switcher would fair any better:
Exactly right David! Forget all that useless marketing hype. Zorin OS is not a magical orb thats going to make an old computer run like a sports car. If your computer is 9-10 years old, don't expect miracles. Infact, if you use a computer for anything you need performance for, like gaming and production workloads, its a better idea to just buy a new computer.
I have a family member who has my old 2012 Acer computer, its practically useless now days. And since were living in a literal tech apocalypse now days, good luck affording a new computer, when they now cost 3-times what they used to.
