Hello,
I recently installed Zorin OS 18 Core and everything is working great except for the audio. I am using a headset for sound output, but the volume control is not behaving normally. I can only hear audio when the volume slider is set to the maximum level. If I lower it even a little bit, the sound either becomes extremely quiet or stops completely.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Hi and welcome to the forum.
Can you provide some information about your hardware specification, particularly the sound card/s.
If your PC is recent, then you may need to use a later linux kernel to support the newer hardware.
I assume you have been playing with Zorin>Settings>Sound to select output device and volume level.
You could also try using alsamixer to adjust sound settings:
Open a terminal session (CTRL+Alt+T), then type:
alsamixer
In alsamixer, hit F6 to list/select soundcard.
Then hit F5 to show All sound channels.
Look for channel [Loopback-mode] try changing that and test.
Also look at [Auto-Mute] channel settings and test changes there.
You could post a screenshot of your alsamixer, but make sure F5 is used first to show All sound channels, i.e. both inputs and outputs.
Welcome to the Forum!
How is the Headset connected? Wireless over Bluetooth or wired over USB Cable or Audio Jack?
