Zorin OS freezing

I recently installed Zorin OS on my PC as an alternative to Windows, I had a small problem with frequent freezes which were only solved by turning off the pc forcefully, but after installing the drivers the frequency decreased considerably, but still on some rare occasions certain crashes and freezes occur, I'm new to Linux, I've used Windows for more than 10 years in my life, so I'm really lost

Information about my PC's hardware:

x86_64
32-bit, 64-bit
AMD Ryzen 3 3200G with Radeon Vega Graphics
8G RAM - 2666mhz
120GB SSD

It doesn't have a specific cause, it usually occurs when I'm browsing through Firefox

I'm available for any additional information may need.

  • What is your Zorin OS version and edition?
  • Which is your window system, X or Wayland?
  • Does the problem occur in browsers other than Firefox?

I'm using Zorin 17 - Core
I'm not using any other browser than Firefox, so I can't tell you for sure

and about the window system, I have no idea, how could I see?

See below.

I managed to find it, thanks for the post, I'll add some more information

I believe it is Wayland based on the information above

Try switch to Xorg then.
Log out. Click username and a cog should appear, click it and choose Xorg. Then test it.

I've switched, I'll test it for now and see if the freezing still happens, thanks

I'm back with updates, the freezes would drop dramatically, I just had one while I was playing

I noticed that the freeze is system-wide, I say that because when I tried to turn off and on the num lock, which normally signals with a led on or off, there was no response

and after a while, it seems that the system is responding again but I had to restart anyway to fix it

You could try Kernel 6.8 which has updated driver for your video card and see if it makes any differences.

I believe I've found the cause of the problem, I've noticed that the crash always starts when the RAM is being completely used up

I don't have any swap configured to reserve memory for the system, so I believe that the applications are consuming all the memory and the system is running out, I have decreased the frequency of simultaneous apps consequently resulting in less RAM being consumed and no more freezes have occurred

Thank you very much to those who paid attention to this post, I'm going to buy a new RAM comb and set up the Swap
