Zorin quebrou após atualização (Zorin crashed after update)

Translation:
Yesterday, I performed some updates suggested by the system, but after restarting, the system crashed. The taskbar simply does not appear. I performed some actions suggested by Gemini and it did appear, but when I performed another suggested update or even logged out of the system, it disappeared again.

I am staying away until I have a reliable final version.

Are you referring to Zorin 18 Beta?

Está a referir-se ao Zorin 18 Beta?

Yes.
I installed it to test, but even though it's a beta, I didn't imagine such a serious problem could occur. That's why I'm inclined to only use it when it's in the final version.

Unless you wish to become an official BETA tester for Zorin OS, I'd strongly suggest you stick with Zorin OS 17.3 for now. Have patients, Zorin OS 18 will be released soon.

For now, I will thank you on reporting the issue on 18 BETA. I have seen this behavior before on previous versions, and if you have the extension manager installed, you might find Zorin Menu toggle off, and ya might have to toggle it back on.

Good morning

I actually installed Zorin 18 beta for testing, as if I were using it in production. Currently, my main system is Linux Mint, but I intend to upgrade to Zorin when the final, stable version is available. Since it's a beta version, I imagined problems might occur, but not as severe as the one that ended up happening, as an update broke the system and practically prevented its use.

I want to point out that until this moment, the system had been behaving impeccably, with only a few minor bugs, such as a part not yet translated into Portuguese.

I installed the extension manager, and it reports an error in the taskbar, as shown in the image. The error described in the red icon is the following:
TypeError: actorData is undefined
In order to continue testing, I first need to fix this taskbar issue, and if there's a way to reinstall it, I'd like to know the most appropriate method.

You could try it with

sudo apt install --reinstall gnome-shell-extension-zorin-taskbar

Then logout and login again.

Thanks for reporting this issue.

We found that there was a regression recently introduced into the taskbar code. The regression caused this behaviour to happen when intellihide was enabled and the user logged out of the account and logged back in.

We've since resolved it in a new software update which will be published in the main software repositories shortly. However, if you wish to test this fix in the meantime, you can follow these steps:

  1. Download the new Zorin Taskbar package from here: https://launchpad.net/~zorinos/+archive/ubuntu/stable/+build/31324634/+files/gnome-shell-extension-zorin-taskbar_70.1.1_all.deb
  2. After downloading the .deb package, double-click on it to install this latest version.
  3. Finally, you can press the Windows/Logo key to open the Activities overview and search "Log Out" in order to log out of your account and log back in.

This should apply the new fix on your computer.

Hello
I downloaded and installed this .deb file you provided and restarted the laptop. The taskbar appeared exactly as I had configured it. I ran some tests, such as disabling the taskbar from appearing on two monitors and turning the laptop off and on, and it has been working so far.
Thanks for your help.
Very grateful.

Very cool! You were the first Brazilian I recognized here on the Forum... I'm from Rio de Janeiro and it's an honor to see you here.

Thank you, friend.
I think we must have other Brazilians here, because from what I understand, zorin is widely used in Brazil. I live in Manaus.
