Today i was watching youtube and sudenly the screen frozed and got black, like a desktop with Windows installed reading a pendrive with a new system, i've tried pressing Esc but it showed some keyboard characters. Also i had to force a restart to make it go back into normal, i think it's the temperature, i shall change the thermal paste soon.
Another thing i want to say its about Brave, when i used the"~" key(note that i'am brazilian so you probably wont see it in yours keyboard) maked the browser crash. I had to uninstall the Browser via terminal and reinstall it by the app store to make it go back into the normality.
Does this happen while watching YouTube only, or also other sites like Vimeo for example? And are you running any other applications at the same time? A good clean up from time to time might help a lot with this sort of issues, so hopefully this will solve it.
As for the browser issue, I've just tried switching to Portuguese layout but it doesn't seem to cause any trouble. Perhaps @Salomon could give it a try and confirm if this is an general issue?
Do You have something like psensor or the Gnome Extension Vitals installed what give You in the Taskbar Temperature Values? So, You can see what Temperature You have.
Are you sure that it was a freeze? On some machines and browsers Zorin/Linux has difficulties to recognize that the system is active when videos are playing and goes into suspend while watching videos (suddenly black screen).
You could test if increasing the time until suspend turns on will help. If yes, you can install the gnome extension caffeine or espresso instead of changing suspend time which keep Zorin awake while watching videos.
Hello community, have a great afternoon from Brazil! @zenzen : @Theo must be using version 17x, as stated in the tag. Currently, my Zorin 17.3 is experiencing some mouse cursor lag and a slight audio stutter when using two or more desktops with different browsers. The "~" accent is normal, even though my keyboard's physical layout doesn't have that symbol. However, other keyboard bugs occur, such as the "^" (SHIFT+"~") and the capital letter Q (SHIFT+"q") only working with the left SHIFT key. However, I think this is a peripheral (keyboard) issue. I also disabled automatic screen suspend, as I saw many others had issues, and I also had it at the beginning. Other than that, everything works normally! My "~" accent is on the "quote" key next to the ENTER key.
