I've been using ZorinOS 18.1 for months now, but recently I've been plagued by horrible system lag and freezes when waking the system from suspend, my CPU and RAM usage also shoot up exponentially.
I don't know if it's to do with hardware or a ZorinOS issue.
My system specs are:
AMD Ryzen 5 5500
32GB DDR4 3400MHz
Intel Arc B570 (Sparkle Guardian Luna OC Edition)
1TB Kioxia NVME
1TB Samsung Pro SSD
Asrock A520m ITX/AC mainboard
ZorinOS 18.1 with latest Liqourix kernel (used the stock one and still had the same issue, but Liqourix solved my audio problems).
Hopefully someone can shed some light on what may be wrong.

By default, Zorin uses the Wayland compositor protocol.
Try and see if the same issue exists if you run Zorin on xorg.
To do this, select your username at login and a cog appears lower right of screen. Click on it and change it from Zorin Desktop to Zorin Desktop on xorg.

What confuses me, is my partner has identical system specs to myself and they aren't having the same issue.
I'll try changing to xorg and update if it has resolved or not. 
Just an update.
Switching to xorg seems to have fixed the problem.

I do wonder why Wayland would be the cause of such a weird problem though, when Wayland is supposed to be the system that superceded X11/xorg.
Because Wayland is far to be finish an they continue to push it even it's a mess.

XLibre is the way forward, not Wayland.
