I've been trying to use my printer for a long time and everytime I need to specifically print (not scan, print), it is a battle between if my OS connects or communicate with my printer.
Everytime I try to print, either it gets stuck in "printing" and nothing happens, says "error" in printing without other explanation or just doesn't connect at all, I tried turning on and off my PC, the printer, changing to different WiFis I have, I even have uninstalled the printer and installed it back on my PC, manually selected the drivers, and even installed HPLIP (which at this moment has NOT recognised the printer at all by itself even when I tried all of the above for this section as well so it's basically useless).
It has become a burden to try and print, doesn't matter if I do it directly from the system or using the web-included printer, doesn't matter if I "refresh" the printer, I can't get it to just "select" and let it actually work permanently
SOMETIMES It does work and perfectly prints without issues, and later on when I select that EXACT printer I used before it magically doesn't work, and at this point I don't know what is going on.
It does work perfectly with android and windows, only I have this issue.
I would love someone to help me out to solve this issue, beforehand, thanks for your help!
OK have ya made sure secure boot and fast startup are disabled?...i see you tryed HPLIP that is usally how hp printers get installed where did you get the HPLIP at the software store?
For HPLIP, try using advanced options in the add tab, then manual discovery and input the printer's IP address. That will usually get it installed properly in the app.
Like you, I sometimes find I get an error message or it says it is printing but doesn't. Usually this is if I have been logged in for a few days without using the printer and it has gone into some sort of hibernation that I can't wake it from, or if there has been a software update. Usually unplugging the power to the printer then plugging it back in fixes the problem.
I think the problem is that HPLIP is not very up to date or user friendly. HP has much more incentive to make it's windows installations work seamlessly than it does for linux. This is a problem with a lot of manufacturers unfortunately.
I got it from 3 sources, the software store, using the terminal and using the official HP website, fast startup is disabled but secure boot is enabled.
AH ok...ive never actually installed a printer with HPLIP im real good with brother printers and any other manufacture tho. When i had my computer repair buisiness when i saw an HP i cringed they do things different...like dell....lol...took longer to repair
