Zorinos cannot enable binder_linux

I followed everything redroid-docs says to do to get redroid to run on zorinos (there is no zorinos-specific guide there, but there are ubuntu and debian guides, so I follow those), but it didn't work: /dev/binder didn't exist. Usually it seems to be created by using binder_linux, but despite checking for the existence of binder_linux with the modinfo command, /dev/binder was never created after all. I don't think this is a redroid issue, but rather a bug in zorinos that causes /dev/binder not to be created.

How can I get my zorinos to create binder_linux normally?

I'm using zorinos 17.1 pro now

I found a similar issue to this on this forums, but I don't think I ended up creating /dev/binder there either.
