Nope, on Zorin 16.3

Nothing out of the ordinary. I saw the same errors when I installed kernel 6.2.16

Well, got a shim error so I'll have to try again without secure boot lol

Are the i915 errors anything to look into? I had very little when messing with another device and Ubuntu MATE - got two or three of the .bin's and just copied to the folder, no more errors. But, just on a whim..

Shim error is important, yes.

These are warnings, not errors. They stand as placeholders for possible future additions to the kernel. You can read more here:

Gotcha - giving it another shot..

Meh, finally booted in after installing - didn't care for how my ZenBook ran.. 5.15.0-78 for now haha

It is true that jumping to the Highest Kernels often does not result in beauty.
The slightly older stable kernels have had time to work out the bugs.

I usually do not recommend it unless a certain piece of hardware requires it. And even then, it often can be a trade off.

@Aravisian Is it possible to update to the daily kernal which is 6.5 i believe? without ukuu which is payware now

OH i read your last post so um ok yea but i still want to try it lol so how?

Fortunately you can always roll back to the previous kernel if the newer is not working out.

Ukuu turned to a paywall? I did not know that...

This method will get you the 6.4.11

I do not know about a way of getting 6.5...

Well it worked but then my system was wack so I reinstalled fresh. Oh well.

This is not the kernel you are looking for.
Interestingly... I tested it (since you were and I figured I may need a heads up on problems) and although the .deb files seemed to install just fine; I ended up with a dependency issue due to the higher kernels requiring libc6 version higher than 20.04 offers.
I can fix that easy... but other users might be caught off guard by it (And this is why I always just point users to the TuxInvader Kernel).
I think I must address this in that thread.

Yea it certainly caught me off guard. Thanks @Aravisian

@Aravisian I saw this article on OMGUbuntu and thought I'd share it here. Is it relevant? New Repo Brings Mainline Linux Kernel to Ubuntu LTS Releases - OMG! Ubuntu

Yes, it may be helpful for certain users that have very new hardware and need a later kernel.
This may also be of benefit when Zorin OS 17 arrives, since TuxInvader mainline kernel is currently for Focal Only.
It provides only Unsigned kernels, so they will not work with Secure Boot which may be a deal breaker for some users.

NOTE the warning:

If your Ubuntu install works great with Ubuntu’s vanilla kernel(s) do not switch to a mainline build idly. If you can’t think of a reason why you need mainline kernel builds, or you lack the ability to “undo” making a switch to one, don’t do it.

You can setup and install with:

sudo touch /etc/apt/sources.list.d/zabbly-kernel-stable.sources && sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/zabbly-kernel-stable.sources

Paste in

Enabled: yes
Types: deb deb-src
URIs: https://pkgs.zabbly.com/kernel/stable
Suites: focal
Components: main
Architectures: amd64
Signed-By: /etc/apt/keyrings/zabbly.asc

Tap ctrl+o, enter then ctrl+x

Add the key

sudo touch /etc/apt/keyrings/zabbly.asc && sudo nano /etc/apt/keyrings/zabbly.asc

Paste in (click summary arrow key):

Thanks @Aravisian, not sure I'm bold enough to try it right now but I'm happy to have provided the infos.

I went ahead and tried it since if I am going to post install instructions, I prefer to know that they work.
I am currently uselessly on the 6.4.12 kernel.
