16.3 is supposed to have kernel 6.2 but Lite still has 5.15

Fortunately you can always roll back to the previous kernel if the newer is not working out.

UPDATE: As of 20 Aug '23, I have tested this method and found that although the kernel packages appear to install just fine, the Software Updater soon alerted me that I had broken packages.
