Anyone using Qbitorrent?

Is anyone using Qbitorrent I've tried all the snaps flatpac and zorin from software store. They load but look washed out and the flatpac has a permissions problem cannot change download directory or use skins it just crashes. I've tried the official ppa as well no luck.Any help would be appreciated.

Haven't tried it since my Windows days. What don't you like about Transfer? I know, it is not feature-rich but fine for the occasional download...

Transmission, not Transfer, had a security issue a few iterations ago. Deluge is a better program.

I Like the search and rss functions of Qbitorrent. I've made some headway, I downloaded the applmage (portable) 4.4.5 from the site it works 100 percent. Then installed appimaged daemon to integrate into the OS. Don't know if correct but that was my work around.

Thanks for the Reply

Thank you for that info swarf .... I just tried to download it and found out it is already installed on Zorin ....

For those that want to learn how to download torrents for Deluge check out this short video on YouTube .....

I also tried to download qBitorrent again after many months .... but no luck .... I downloaded it from their website ..... and installed by way of the terminal ....

This came up in my Cinnamon main menu under qbitorrent .....

And when clicking on it this notice came up .....

The file I assume should have gone in the Download Folder not the Document Folder .....

Here is the terminal info for the qBitorrent download .....

sudo apt install qbittorrent

?

No ...... I'll give that a try

I have, it will install but as I said in the OP the permission are wackey and when it loads it all washed out looking.

Yes it does look kinda strange and when I clicked on Search Engine .... which is where it is supposed to download and in stall them nothing happened and the Search menu didn't appear .....

So, @Jonerich 's experience is not exclusive to his build...
The Repository qbittorrent-stable may be no good, now...

Everyone has a favorite app from Windows.
I had a few... Irfanview was one.
After migrating to Linux, I tried to keep them, using Wine or whatever.
I even managed to fix a few apps to make them work on Linux without Wine or POL.
But in the end, I just had more luck finding Linux Apps.
Now, after some time, they are the favorites.
And if I have to use Windows, I am left trying to figure out how to get my Favorite Linux Apps to work on Windows.

Yes I tried it once before and I think the same thing happened .... I also tried the one that I posted a link to Deluge but following the video I could not get the site suggested to download material from would not open for me ..... the page was a cheap shot at buying a VPN .... when I opened it it was NordVPN which I already use ..... I could find no where on the site to download Deluge .....

I sent a reply to the email supplied and asked them what gives .... maybe they will respond and maybe they won't .... time will tell ....

That is why I tried qBitorrent again ....

Just install Qbitorrent like I did in the first post it will be portable but it works fine.

Link Below:

Downloads then you want the applmage file download and just click it.

Thank you sir I'll check it out when I finish doing what I'm doing right now .... you don't need Flatpak or Wine to install this do you as I don't use either .... anyway I'll check it out ....

No you don't it's native and it's the newest version as well just put the image where you want it and don't delete it as it's not installed to the system.

I remember having to sort out an Acer notebook many years ago where client running Windows had got infected with viruses because of qbittorrent. That's why I would never go near it.

Well luckily it's now and it's Linux. I would be leery of the sites you use the client on rather than the software itself. Qbitorrent started out on Linux thus the Q in its name (QT).

It now supports many different flavors windoze and Mac included saying this it's the de-facto torrent client with it rss and plugins for Search and very safe to use when set up properly.

Ounce you drive the Ferrari you can't just slide into a ford pinto and feel good about life. Lol

Qbitorrent should have better integration with Zorin, I was a long time user of Ubuntu then used Mint and now Zorin with any Linux distro's it will get better overtime
