Back to the community!

Hello there! I'm Magnibigg, a former Zorin OS 16 user who asked a lot of questions during Feb 2024. I'm here to reconnect with my fellow Zorin OS community friends! How much has changed in Zorin OS 17 since it got released? lmk because I am planning to return to Zorin OS (on a VM)...

Once again, to all the Windows 10 users out there, try Zorin OS and you won't regret it

I'm just starting to prepare a laptop for when I start back to work in September. Chris Titus' style streamlined Windows 10 has been my work-horse for years, even though it's capable of running W 11, I disabled the update. However, due to the end of free security updates soon, I'll be relying on Zorin_OS to pick up the load, I just hope that everything my job requires runs without a hitch! Unfortunately, I don't know which course materials I'll have to use yet, so... ....

I'm ngl but Linux has got insanely popular, familiar and convenient recently. :tada:

Anyway, I'll resume contributing to the forum. I would like to lead the community along with my fellow community leaders here. Lemme know if anyone needs advice or smth, I'll try my best to help!

The old laptop I tested Zorin OS on (around December 2023), it ran it better than Windows 7!

Trust me, you won't regret switching to Zorin OS, I absolutely am in love with this OS! Sure it doesn't have all the Microsoft Office apps yet, but very soon, hopefully Adobe, Microsoft etc. will extend their app support to Linux systems...

I am glad that you are enjoying Zorin OS Linux. I too switched from Windows 7, to Zorin OS 9, many years ago. I tried a few other Linux distro's too, but always came back to Zorin OS, because I like it so much more, and it works for me.

Regarding Microsoft's APPS, don't hold your breath, made for profit companies don't care about Linux, cause there is no market share in it. Roughly translated, if a company can't rip you off, they won't do it. There are alternatives though...

Gimp <<<--- Thats your photo editor

Kdenlive <<<--- Thats your video editor

Blender <<<--- Thats your 3D animation APP

And of course you have Wine to run most Windows-only apps and Proton layer of Steam to run Windows games

Back after almost a year

I'm finally a Zorin user once again :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
