I tinkered with it today, and I was able to get help from the developer of Vaults. There was an error due to there being empty folders inside the mount directory, which meant there was technically "something" there. After solving that, the process was smooth to import my files and decrypt them with my password.
The reinstall of Zorin and the transfer of all valuable files has been a complete success.
