Hi folks,
My first posting, having just installed Z 17.3 on an oldish Gigabyte laptop. So far things are about as I expected them to be. But Brave won't open its window. I can see it in the icon, but no accessible window. I've installed Firefox which works exactly as it should. I've uninstalled Brave, reinstalled it, but still no usable window. Any suggestions?
best wishes,
Peter
Have you updated your system after installation (at Software & Updates)?
Can you please look if at Software &Updates at other software (sources) brave is mentioned?
There sould be two entries:
'brave-browser-release.list' and 'brave-browser-release.list.save'.
Welcome to the Forum!
When Your System is frsh installed, have You updated it? If not, please do that.
So, the Icon shows it but You don't have the big Window, yes? You could open the System Monitor and end the Brave Process and then start Brave again.
Another Thing: Is Your system run in Wayland or X11/Xorg? You can check that in Settings>About.
Hi,
After many false steps, I stumbled upon the solution. Although I'm using a laptop, with a single screen, the default setting in Screen Display is for Join(ed) Displays. Brave was displaying on a phantom display. When I eventually discovered that and changed to Single Display, LO! I had a functioning browser.
I marked Your Post as Solution.
