Buying or wait?

I am curious buying 17 or waiting for newer?
Also one question - why every distributions are toxic to another if linux is the same family with different package manager and desktop?

Desktop Linux distributions are not the same. Defaults and out of the box experience matters a lot, especially for newer users.

There can be "infighting", because package managers are not compatible between each other. Same goes for desktop environments. Distributions choose what to ship in the base system, and they make different choices.
All of these can make distributing and supporting software to all Linux distributions a hassle for people porting their software.

It's then not hard to see why some people liking a distro may feel angry about another distro.

If you're waiting for a newer version, you'll likely be waiting a year or more from what I've read on these forums. 17.1 came out early this year, and we just got a 17.1-r2. Zorin 18 isn't likely to turn up for quite a while.

Regarding toxicity, there's no good reason and I haven't seen much, if any, of that here. That said, people develop strong preferences and get over attached and over sensitive. It's not much different from sports teams in that respect.

To buy that only you can decide. It is Your Money, so Your Decision.

Why? Because of the 2 A's of the human Beings: Arrogance and Aggression. They're thinking that they only have made the right Choice - the only right Choice. And all the others out there are too stupid. They think that they belong to the educated Elite. But that is not new. You can find that in other Topics like Politics and/or Religion.

It seems that they are not able/willing to accept that the Distro/Desktop what fits there Usage/Needs not fit to the Usage/Needs of other Individuals. Linux lives through the Choice. You have multiple Distro's and Desktop Environments. So, You can try and choose that what fits the best for You. BUT that doesn't mean that Your Choice is the right Choice for the Other's out there. And that will be not respected.

And to say that clear: That Behavior is not the same like when You discuss about Pro's and Con's of a Distro or a Desktop Environment.

If you buy now you're supporting the team - that will make things happen faster.

I like Zorin and I like Mint Cinnamon, and I use both daily. I've seen plenty of other people here talk about other distros but never seen the superiority I've seen in other places. Quite the opposite, I've seen people encouraged to try other distros, and many people saying they run more than one. I've seen zero toxicity here.

I'll probably buy "Pro" for my birthday or Christmas... I'd like to support the project.

Well. I sometimes reading how devs some distributions talking about another devs and sayed they are dump or dumper from them.
That why thousand linux ditributions ideas?
That is weird for me.
