Unfortunately, I love Zorin, but I have to switch back to Windows due to just too many software incompatibilities.
I've tried this for two days to convert back and it's just not working. I had a similar issue to this thread and instead of deleting the entire partition with Zorin OS, I shrunk it and added a new partition and followed the rest of the steps. (I didn't delete it because I only have one USB, and had to format it to make the Windows installer). When launching back into the installer, it only shows the USB to install to, which it can't do. See image.
Small update, I checked the partition I created and it didn't stay, it's just disappeared. I don't think that makes a difference in this issue, though.
Both of these suggest that the chosen partition was not actually formatted to NTFS and then the Windows Installer run.
Can you try completing the NTFS formatting, then running the Installer?
If I format the drive, wouldn't it erase the OS? I only have one USB, so I have to load Zorin onto the USB to complete the NTFS formatting, and then I have to load the installer onto the USB.
Formatting the partition is not the same as formatting the entire drive.
I see your issue with One USB... Yes, you need the drive unmounted to format the partition. But once formatted, you only need the partition to be unmounted to make changes. So that initial swap on the USB should be all that is necessary.
I've gone to gparted, selected it, clicked format to the correct version, and it says one operation pending and it doesn't look like anything else is happening. I'm going to give it some time.
I have followed all of these steps and still at the same problem. It shows Disk 0 Partition 1: EAS-USB and Disk 0 Unallocated Space and Windows 11 can't be installed on either. I'm at a loss and need help ASAP
Its insane how genuinely hard it is to revert to Windows. As I have a crucial court hearing tomorrow, I'm forced to reinstall Zorin so I can attend it. I really hope someone can help me to get this resolved soon
I formatted it and it some it was completed with no issues. Following that I booted up the installation USB and the only disks to load were the ones listed above with the same error. Launching command prompt and listing the disk yielded no new results.
More info:
I tried loading Windows 10 instead, tried using Media Installer instead of Etcher, tried Rufus and several different kinds of installation, all of which yielded the same result.
