Nemo isn't Flathub. Today I loaded it so I could Rename files & that's working. However, now I cannot open Telegram. I just read that Flathub has File Manager apps. Shall I change the File Manager to a Flathub type?
Is Telegram a flatpak? If so, this sounds similar to the issues that have been wreaking havoc lately, you may want to read through this:
I'm not sure I follow with the second part about changing the File Manager to a flatpak, are you asking if you should do that in order to fix your telegram application? If that's the question, I would say no and it's most likely the issue linked in this thread above.
You got here quickly! Yes, Flathub is a lot of Flatpak! Here is what DuckDuck's AI cobbled together: "Yes, Flathub is the primary centralized repository for Flatpak applications, where users can browse, install, and update Flatpak apps on Linux." I'm about to have lunch now, so when I finish, I look forward to reading your recommendation. Best of luck w/ your problem!
I restored Nautilus, and noticed that the screenshots I downloaded and renamed in Nemo are holding the name I gave them. I check Telegram everyday, so I'm fairly certain it was the Nemo install that messed it up. I've uninstalled/reinstalled Flathub Telegram, several times, and the button shown after the install won't even "open" the program. Also, the Telegram shows it's installed in the stores "Installed" category. Telegram is working on my cellphone, but I'd rather do it on desktop. I'm not sure what to do, is Mint a better OS? I'm really surprised Zorin OS can't rename files just "out of the box".
I think it is probably more likely to do with a permisdions issue hence the need for Flatseal.
Personally I avoid Flatpak and Snap like the plague. Flatpak has just had a major update to resolve major security issues that allowed it to access system files. I don't think I have ever used it, I certainly will not ever use it.
I haven't used Zorin as my daily driver since I accidentally trashed my Zorin 15 install.
Flatpaks are unwieldy and by design do not integrate with system software, don't fix what ain't broke and stick with APT, Synaptic Package Manager and the Terminal/Konsole.
Never had an issue with installing Telegram on my PCLOS Debian with KDE Plasma.
Hi, I looked at your suggestions. It seems like APT, Synaptic Package Manager and the Terminal Konsole are File Managers? I don't think I want to date as far back as PCLOS Debian w/ KD Plasma.
I'm still thinking I'd like Cinnamon Mint. I have a 2020 HP desktop Model: HP 600G6PD SFF i5-10500 166B/512 PC w/2x16GB RAM. I'm new to Linux, but have 4 yrs schooling and workstudy in the comp.r lab on Windows and Mac. I'm just disgusted w/ Bill Gates' updates & intrusiveness, Recall was the last straw. I'd appreciate if you'd advise me if my setup is enough, as I'm already to roll on the Mint forum. Thanks! *<8-)
Yes, with your specs you'll have no problems to run LM.
Thank you, much appreciated.
Terminal is the command line interface in non-KDE distributions. Konsole is what is present. PCLOS Debian is not an old distribution, it is current and up-to-date. Thankfully it does not have any .isos with Gnome, only budgie, Cinnamon, KDE Plasma mini, KDE Plasma, MATE, and xfce. Has the latest fork of Debian 13. It's my daily driver and sometimes I use the underrated Q4OS also Plasma:
As for PCLOS it is up-to-date but it uses .rpm instead of .deb.
Which is faster and/or has fewer bugs? Although I reloaded Nautilus, I tried Telegram and then, reloaded it. It's still not working. Thanks for all the good info. I've never heard of PCLOS. Had a little trouble using Deb to load my boot, but finally got the hang of it.
You could try this:
Who would've "thunk it"! It works now, although I'm glad I did some shopping around, because you never know. I'm happy with Zorin as long as it works! And as long as I have the people at this forum...ha! ha!
Can you mark @Ponce-De-Leon 's post as 'Solution'?
I was so arrogant to mark it by myself.
