You mean the digital Well-Being Function from the newer Gnome Versions? That can't be added because it is baked in the Desktop. For this, You have to wait for a new Main Version with a newer Dektop Version.
This gnome extension could also be an idea for those who like such a function now in Zorin 18:
Tried it. Unsupported to the current GNOME version.
Yes from newer GNOME.
So I'll have to wait for, say Zorin OS 19 or something?
I had tested the extension in Zorin 18.1 with gnome 46, and there it worked. It is not supported on gnome 43 (Zorin 17).
There have been longstanding applications before well-being got a label:
Mine had an issue with extensions lately - Fixed it, now it's working.
Right. This Well-Beeing come with newer Gnome Desktop Versions. Because Zorin uses an older one, You have to wait until a new Main Version what will have a newer Gnome Version will be released.
The alternative would be to use a Gnome Extension what was mentioned here. Or: Switching to Debian 13 with Gnome 48. There You have that. But you would have to set up the Gnome desktop by yourself so that You have a similar Desktp Layout like on Zorin. This is doable but need a bit Time to set it up. For Theming, You would have to look if You finde something similar.
That's correct. Sometimes you can get extensions to work with changes you wish to make, other times they won't work or won't be stable.
Zorin is built on Ubuntu LTS, the latter which is released once every two years. Zorin updates their OS about 12-18 months after Ubuntu releases their latest LTS. So, if you're using Zorin, you're often going to be about a year or so behind the latest features.
If having the latest features is important to you, AnduinOS combines both ease of use with the latest Ubuntu-based GNOME desktop. They've done incredible work this year making an excellent, easy to use desktop. Slightly less user friendly would be going with the latest Ubuntu release or the latest Fedora Workstation release.
Thanks for the recommendation. I'll explore AnduinOS via VM.
