Ethernet and wifi issues - new install

The 5.11 kernel is not LTS. It is the Hirsute Hippo testing kernel.

Save each file on your USB and transfer them to Zorin OS.
Save them as they are in your Downloads Folder.
Open a terminal and Change Directory (CD) to that folder

cd ~/Downloads

Now run the install command to install all the packages at once:

sudo dpkg -i *.deb

Once done... reboot and test...

Looks fine to me

You are still on the 5.11 kernel.

Can you hold or Tap the left shift key at boot to pull up Advanced Options for Zorin and from there, select the 5.8 kernel.
Please see here:

I was given 2 options, 5.8 generic or 5.8 recovery mode. i fired it up in generic and it is still the same

@Aravisian Did he do it right, I think he did? @Warrioruw Can you show a photo of your PCIE Wi-Fi card?

as it is setup for dual boot, when you get to choosing your operating system, there is a choice for Advanced Options for Zorin

Not everyone is keen on opening his/her desktop or laptop.
You (and I) belong to a group of people called "computer nerds".

apologies for the dust lol

Its a TL-WN881ND

I recommend one of those to blow dusts.
It is way more economical than the compressed air in a tin can.

Ah, you also belong to the nerd club
Did you assembled it yourself?

Yes matey and thank you. it is in need of an upgrade soon though which is another reason why i am looking at this operating system :+1:

I built mine more than 5 years ago.
The problem/advantage of Linux is that it is soooo efficient with resources and makes me feel less need for upgrade.

Weird, I have one of those, and it uses an Athereos Chipset

Could that be why it is not picking anything up then?

It shouldn't matter

He did - and I am stumped.

Upon reboot, you should land back on the 5.11 kernel. You can remove the 5.8 kernel, if you want to.

So should OP buy another Wi-Fi card?
